By the time I joined the CBBC UX team, the Go CBBC app was well under way. What I was responsible for was outlining and documenting rules for the responsive content templates, brainstorming surprise interactive elements to make the app more inherently playful, and a lot of testing in primary schools with children aged 7-11. This app is a lot of fun to use and was a lot of fun to work on, and I was happily able to leverage my illustration skills to produce assets for the games, icons and interface.
It’s all about discovery. Content is navigable by swiping cubes up, down and across. Of course it's packed with hidden gems that are triggered by secret gestures- tilt, shake and tap to discover more!
I defined rules for different devices to make sure everything from the largest pages in the app to the smallest icons on the website were consistent, super tight– and with layered and reusable assets.
This project was made all the more fun by the sweet illustration nuggets I could work on alongside the UX– like the "Selfies" stickers, for example
